Ezra 2

Good Morning “Readers of ALL of Scripture.”  Today we are in Ezra 2.

Be honest… did you read today’s chapter?  Or… like me when you saw the list of names were you tempted to flip over to Ezra 3?

Read the names.  Take it in.  Consider… What about their lives and the way they lived, was so special to our God that He included them in His Word for all generations that followed.  Hint… nothing really, they loved and were committed to Him!  That’s it!

Some names sound familiar like Joshua, Nehemiah, and Mordecai… but that’s it.  They sound familiar,  but they are not the Joshua we’ve read about or the Nehemiah of the next book that rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem.  This is not Uncle Mordecai - Esther’s uncle.  No these are just other dudes named the same.  Those were popular names then.

Take comfort in the simplicity knowing that God knows your name too!  In fact someday when you get to heaven He will have a special name just for you, known only to Him (Revelation 2:17).  And, what did you do to deserve this level of recognition from The One Who Holds It All in His Hand?  NOTHING!  Jesus did it all (Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8-9).

Your expectation as a result?  Give yourselves to Him every day (Romans 12:1). Love Him… Love others (Matthew 36-40)

That’s all they did!

Love you all!  Dig in!
