2 Chronicles 34

Good Morning “Doers of What is Right in His Eyes.”  Today we are in 2 Chronicles 34.

Today we read about King Josiah.  Josiah had childlike faith.  “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

Of course Josiah had childlike faith - he was only 8, yet… Perhaps the seed of his faith came from Manasseh’s story.

We’re told…
“He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭34‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How did he know what was right?  While restoring the Temple “…Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord that had been given through Moses.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭34‬:‭14‬ ‭

“When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭34‬:‭19‬ ‭

Josiah realized in that moment how far they had fallen, and the judgment they deserved as a result. In absence of The Law people do “What’s right in their own eyes (Proverbs 14:12).  The problem is our flesh is corrupt, so the right we think we do isn’t right at all (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9-10).

Without the continual tutoring of The Word of God taught by The Spirit of God we have no hope of doing what is right in The Lords eyes (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:9-11, Romans 12:2).  How would we even know what that is?  Josiah realized they didn’t.  He was surprised by what The Law ACTUALLY said.

We live in a similar world.  So few ACTUALLY read The Bible that we are often surprised by what it says.  We’ve traded the Truth of Gods Word for what “sounds good”, or “seems right”.  We’ve tried to make God the God that agrees with our flesh, instead of recognizing The God of The Bible, and falling on our face before Him.

There’s a very simple solution.  Read it and live according to it.  Love you all!  Dig in!I’m
