Good Morning “Out of The Abundance of The Heart.” Today we are in 2 Chronicles 31.
Yesterday we read about Hezekiah. He brought back worship of The One True God, beginning with observing the Passover. The people weren’t properly consecrated, or all cleaned up but they got their feet in the right place. They had hearts that were open to God. We saw Gods mercy and grace on full display.
Today we see the continuation of their growth process. Hezekiah fast tracked the teaching of The Law and with their learning came application - further evidence of their hearts condition. Hezekiah re-instituted the tithe and the people responded such that there was a “heap” - so much he had to appoint men to deal with it.
You’ve probably heard me say, “Our works don’t save us… but they do demonstrate we’re saved.” Make no mistake, Salvation is by Grace through Faith alone… it is not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). However the good works that overflow from our thankful hearts demonstrate that a change truly happened. No good works… perhaps no real change (James 2:26, Matthew 7:18).
What does that look like in our church’s - practically? What if our thankfulness was demonstrated in our giving - such that there was a “heap”. “What are we going to do with all this?” What if when we needed volunteers… we had too many? “Man we need more work for all these people to do.” What if when someone was in need they were OVERWHELMED with support. “STOP, STOP, we can’t take any more love.” Don’t get me wrong… we have seen it - for sure. We’ve been recipients and administers of it.
Being in The Word is key to growth! I can speak to the incredible results in our youth - since we’ve all been reading The Bible together. We have students asking DEEP questions we’ve never been asked before. They’re “digging in” studying the original languages, meanings of names, Biblical trends and grasping the “big picture”. Furthermore, we have greater numbers than we’ve ever seen wanting to be discipled. As staff we joke… “This is becoming a problem!” They are applying what they are studying and we have an overflow of application… “A heap”. What an incredible problem to have.
Love you all! Continue to dig in!
