2 Chronicles 22

Good Morning “Light Shiners”.  Today we are in 2 Chronicles 22.

Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram of Judah, became king after his father’s death. He was wicked and followed the counsel of the evil house of Ahab.  He only reigned a year before God fixed that.  God used a man named Jehu to kill both Ahaziah and Jehoram (Joram) the king of Israel. After Ahaziah’s death, his mother, Athaliah, killed the royal family and seized power for herself.  Evil, evil, evil… nothing but evil.

The evil one has worked diligently since the garden to destroy the seed of the woman - Jesus.
He destroyed ¼ of the world’s population when Cain killed Abel; he tried to pollute the human gene pool in the days of Noah; he sought to kill all the Hebrew males around the time that baby Moses floated into the arms of the pharaoh’s daughter; he almost eliminated the Hebrews (and the Messianic hope for the world) during the Egyptian exodus, until the Red Sea closed-in; he almost killed all, the babies in Bethlehem in the days of Herod’s rule, yet God had other plans - baby Jesus escaped.  After Jesus - Satan continued his work through Hitler, Stalin, Arafat, and a host of others who sought to destroy the Jewish people, along with Christians.  What about today?  Yes he continues through every means possible to destroy Gods people and all that God purposes.  Much of the world has become a tool for him to attempt to accomplish just that.

Israel and Judah were dark during this chapter.  It may have seemed like all Godliness was snuffed out.  However; Athaliah failed to kill one of Ahaziah’s sons, Joash - a glimmer of light in Judah remained.

In the heart of the darkness, God was kindling a fire of revival for Judah. Joash would soon take the throne from Athaliah and restore love for God in the nation.

God is kindling a fire even today.  Light dispels darkness (1 John 1:5-7).  We know the end of the story.  Evil will not win, it cannot win!  Darkness will eventually be banished by the light (Revelation 20:10).  There will be dark periods, but there is no darkness that can extinguish the light of Christ.

Love you all!  Dig in!
