2 Chronicles 19

Good Morning “Association Limiters.”  Today we are in 2 Chronicles 19

Jehoshaphat was on track in some ways and off in other ways.  Here we see the rebuke that Jehu delivered to King Jehoshaphat for trying to help wicked King Ahab in a military battle to win control of Jabesh-gilead.  Not good.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yes unity is preferable, but there can be no unity between the people of God and the enemies of God.

“…For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Speaking on this very subject regarding persecution and those that will oppose the Disciples and their teaching Jesus says this:

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He goes on to explain that this will even include division within families.  Our flesh becomes pretty committed to our own sin, and opposes The Truth that exposes it.  That Truth is Jesus.  His light dispels darkness - it’s not somehow blended our unified together with darkness.

“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We can’t be united with people who approve of things God hates, or with those who live contrary to the Word of God.  If we’re truly living out The Light of Jesus there SHOULD be conflict / tension between us and the world that isn’t.  If there isn’t tension… maybe it’s because we’re compromising - attempting to blend light with darkness.

Love you all!  Dig in!
