2 Chronicles 15

Good Morning “Prophets of God.”  Today we are in 2 Chronicles 15.

Yesterday I left you with a question.  Do you, share the Disciples heart?  “As for us we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

In today’s passage we see God using Azariah to deliver a message to King Asa.
“The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Like the “sold out”committed, “all in” Disciples - OT Prophets risked their lives each time they took a convicting message to a rebellious people.  Check out The Words of Jesus as he recounts Israel’s history:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” Luke‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As we’ve talked before - we are all commanded to Prophecy.  Not the “God just gave me a new book of the Bible” or “I got a new additional revelation from God” type of OT prophecy.  No, Gods revelation to us is COMPLETE.  We are all commanded to take Gods “already given” Word to a hurting, lost and broken World.  (Matthew 28:18-20). Like Azariah Christians have The Holy Spirit, but NOT upon us - IN us (1 Corinthians 6:19, Acts 1:8).  He is IN us to empower us to be His Witnesses to the world.

Understand that when we take Gods Word to the people, we are prophesying - in The New Testament sense.  Speaking of Spiritual Gifts Paul lines it out to the church in Corinth in 1 Corinthians 14.  “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We do not all have the Spiritual Gift of mercy but we are all expected to be merciful. We do not all have the Spiritual Gift of Evangelism, but we are all commanded to share The Gospel to a lost world.  Likewise, we do not all have the gift of prophecy but we are all expected to know, apply and proclaim Gods Truths to each situation we encounter.  Sharing the Gospel (Evangelism) is the beginning, but applying Gods Word to life (Prophecy) is a must if we are to fulfill the “Great Commission” (Make Disciples).

Love you all!  Dig in! At all costs!
