Good Morning “Future Generation Builders.” Today we are in 2 Chronicles 12.
Rehoboam wanted to be king for the wrong reasons. Furthermore he did evil in the eyes of the Lord. “… he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the Lord.”
2 Chronicles 12:1 NIV Consequently, God allowed Shishak, king of Egypt, to bring a massive military force against Judah and conquer much of Rehoboam’s territory.
“Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the Lord’s anger turned from him, and he was not totally destroyed. Indeed, there was some good in Judah.”
2 Chronicles 12:12 NIV
Judah.
Here we see another example of a leaders ability to both plunge a nation into judgment and lead a nation to His mercy through humble repentance.
No country, is immune from collapse when they walk away from God. Prior strength and greatness mean nothing. Judah went from greatness to conquered all within Rehoboams 17 year reign.
God is still God and quite capable of the same today. Without God’s shield of protection, no constitution, no system of government, and no military force can prevent the downfall of a nation.
It’s incumbent upon us to encourage each future generation and those He’s surrounded us with - to seek Him. Remember David’s words to His son Solomon.
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”
1 Chronicles 28:9 NIV
