2 Chronicles 7

Good Morning “His People, Called By His Name.”  Today we are in 2 Chronicles 7.

Solomon dedicates The Temple.  Then The Lord appears. In response to Solomon’s prayer we read yesterday in chapter 6 - The Lord says this:

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

At first glance it appears God is answering Solomon in reference to Israel (“My people who are called by my name”).  But, remember Solomon’s prayer included the outsider (1 Chro. 6:32-33).   Yesterday I mentioned the fact that God never turns away the truly repentant, Jew or Gentile - Ruth one of the notable.  That Truth is reiterated in Galatians. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile…” Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭26‬-‭28‬a ‭

Is our individual and collective repentance the answer?  Could it be this simple?  Is this the solution to our broken land?  Notice He’s looking for repentance from His people not the lost.  Those called by His Name - Jew and Gentile.  Does the healing of our land begin with the one in the mirror?  It’s a question that must be asked as we look for answers.  Maybe it’s just that simple.

Love you all!  Dig in!
