Good Morning “Side Choosers.” Today we are in 1 Chronicles 19.
As a part of yesterday’s chapter we read about Tou King of Hamath. When he heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, Tou sent his son with gifts to congratulate David on the victory. He realized opposing David was futile. Perhaps he reasoned that God was with David - thus there was no chance of defeating him.
Today we read exactly the opposite with Hanun King of Ammonites.
Remember Gods promise to Abraham in Genesis 12.3? Referring to Israel God said “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” It’s important we are continually reminded of this passage - especially given today’s rhetoric against Israel. We must NEVER forget that we are in a spiritual battle. The evil one runs free looking to deceive. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 NIV
It’s important which side you stand on! In the end, popularity, social perception and acceptance, virtue signaling just won’t cut it in the face of an angry God. I was deceived won’t be an acceptable answer. He’s given us all that we need to “be alert” - His Word, and His Spirit who teaches us from It. Against God - we cannot win! With God we cannot lose! (Romans 8:31)
“You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”
James 4:4 NIV
I’m always amazed at those who stand with this person or for that thing based on popular opinion - with seemingly little or no actual facts or knowledge regarding. We must KNOW who and what we stand for and their relationship to good or evil - ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD.
Popular opinion carries little weight before The King. Check out Acts 17:30-31, Matthew 7:21-23
Love you all! Dig in!
