Good Morning “Big Idea People.” Today we are in 1 Chronicles 17.
It’s a big moment for David. All is well in the palace until he looks out and sees the tent / tabernacle he built for the Arc of The Covenant - the place where they will meet with God.
David reasons why should The Arc be in a tent while I live in house of cedar? Why should “Gods House” be a tent when mine is a palace? It’s a reasonable question. David has an honorable idea. David reasons… he will build God a temple. Ummm, one problem… he didn’t ask God.
Gods ways are not our ways. Often our vision, which seems grand, is tiny and insignificant compared to Gods plan. David reasoned the people / God needed a meeting place. God had plans to send His Son in the flesh, through David’s line, so that we could be reconciled to Him for eternity. David’s plan… tiny. Gods plan… redeem the world through His Son and use David as a piece.
David probably thought the most meaningful and lasting thing He could do for the Lord was to build Him a house, some kind of physical structure. God knows, through His Son and the Holy Spirit who would dwell in believers that WE would be the church, The Temple of The Living God - communing with The Lord from the inside out!
Oh that we would be so submitted to God, in tune with His Holy Spirit, that we might know His plan rather than getting caught up pushing our agenda. It’s possible…
“‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”
Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 NIV
Love you all! Dig in!
