1 Chronicles 6

Good Morning “Role Keepers”.  Today we are in 1 Chronicles 6.

This chapter gives us the record of the descendants of Levi, the son of Jacob. You might remember that the Levites were the ones that agreed to stand with Moses and wipe out those that participated in all of the disgusting worship surrounding the Golden Calf (Exodus 32:26)
Because of their faithfulness they were chosen as the tribe that would be responsible to serve, and lead the worship and care of the Tabernacle.  They became the priests - Levite Priests.

Levi’s 3 sons (Gershshon, Kohath, and Merari) and the family of each was given a special role to fulfil even within that office.

These records were important for those who came after Levi and Aaron.  Records like these would have served as a guide to designate where the particular families served.  They’re not the only ones given roles in Scripture.

God is all about roles.  If you know Jesus then you are a child of God - “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We however are NOT all created to fill the same roles.  The world has somehow turned this into a negative thing, and sought to make all roles available to all people.  In Gods economy it doesn’t work that way.  Frankly, even practically, it doesn’t work that way.  You can’t fit a square peg in a round hole.  You may be able to force it, modify it, hammer it… but not without destroying it.  It’s not designed to function that way.

He’s clearly defined our roles in His Word - The Bible.  He’s given specific roles for Men and Women and designed them accordingly.  Children fill a role while they are growing up.  Seniors, and our Grandparents, are given a special role.  Within the church each person has been gifted to fill a role (Ephesians 4:11-16).  Do you know your role?  Do you live and function within it?  Are you successfully fulfilling your role?  It’s yet another reason why His Word must be learned and lived.  (Joshua 1:8). We function best, ONLY, when we live within the role Gods designed us for.

Love you all!  Dig in!
