Good Morning “Protectors of Your Legacy.” Today we are in 1 Chronicles 5.
This chapter reminds us of the descendants of Reuben, Gad, and half of the tribe of Manasseh. These tribes lived on the east side of the Dead Sea, apart from the other Israelites. You may recall… they were content with the land they saw there, rather than waiting for the best God had - The Promised Land. These tribes were later taken into Assyrian exile.
What kind of legacy will you leave to your children, and your Childrens children, and… the children that come after them? Reuben left quite a legacy… and not a good one. It cost him dearly. It also cost those who came after him.
Sin NEVER affects only the sinner. Every negative thing in our world can be traced back to sin - Ours or someone else’s. Just stop and think how others sin has affected you. Now, before we jump to quickly be reminded… each one of us sins, and each of our sins has hurt someone in someway.
The consequences of sin may stick around for generations and is often irreversible. “You can’t put that toothpaste back in the tube.” We’ve all known families, maybe our own, that have had to deal with the sin legacy of ancestors.
Consider those you love closest to you. You may not have your own children yet, but someday maybe you will. We all have family though. Children’s sin affect parents, siblings, friends, etc etc. Parents sin affects their children, their parents… I mean just think, it’s like the ripple affect of a stone tossed in the water.
Let today’s passage act as additional incentive for us to live by The Word of God! We gotta know It to live It! Build that amazing God honoring, family honoring, reputation that will someday be a legacy. We all will stand before The Lord someday. “Well done” is what I’d like to hear… that about you.
Love you all! Dig in!
