Good Morning “Seekers of Your Heritage.” Today we are in 1 Chronicles 2.
The second chapter of 1 Chronicles contains a genealogy of the family of Jacob (Israel) and his 12 sons, with emphasis on Judah. The family tree follows Judah’s line until reaching King David. The second half of the chapter is a record of Hezron and Caleb’s family. They were also part of the tribe of Judah.
Why does this matter so much to us. As Children of God this is our heritage. Our Savior Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). He came to save not just the Jew but also the Gentile - that’s you and I (Galatians 3:28, Acts 13:46-48, Colossians 3:11)
Paul made it a point to proclaim this great Truth to both Jew and Gentile - as should we.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Romans 1:16 NIV
As you read through the line of Israel (Jacob) certain names stick out. Jacob’s line becomes the line of Judah, it continues and eventually we see Jesse, then David, and ultimately this will be the line of Jesus.
What you might find interesting is within this predominately Jewish line, we also see a smattering of Gentiles mentioned. Is it any wonder that in Gods grand plan He included Gentiles in the offer of Salvation? How is your Biblical knowledge coming? We’ve read about them all at this point. Can you pick all the Gentiles out?
1000 points to anyone who can respond with them all.
Love you all! Dig in!
