2 Kings 24

Good Morning “Weary of Judgment.”  Today we are in 2 Kings 24.

Let me quickly summarize today’s chapter.  Judah faces judgment from their sin that followed Hezekiah’s death and Manasseh’s rule.  This chapter documents more evil kings and more judgment, including the prophesied Babylonian, Aramean, Moabite and Ammonite raiders that came to destroy Judah.

This chapter is perhaps best summarized with this passage “It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence…” 2 Kings‬ ‭24‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It’s easy for these chapters to become monotonous.  Which is more so; Judahs slew of evil kings and rebellion, or Gods consequential judgment?  Have our conscience’s really become so seared, that these horrors become boring?  Have we become seared and thus bored with the world’s sin and rebellion as well?  We dare not become so conditioned that we cease to recognize the very same horrors in our midst.

God is still God.  He is unchangeable (immutable).  His anger still kindles toward those who “called by his name” embrace sin and the ways of the world.  These passages, if nothing else, ought remind us that choices come with consequences.  Anyone who owns a Bible and studies it can see that the “worlds god”; you know the rainbows and bunnies one… the one that only does the good things we like… the drive up window god… well, that god, simply doesn’t exist.  That god is NOT The One True God.

The One True God, Yahweh of The Bible is Holy Perfect!  He is Perfect Grace and Mercy while at the same time Perfect Justice.  His expectation of His children is very simple… act like His children.

Love you all!  Dig in!
