Good Morning “Livers In The Routine, Steady Does It.” Today we are in 2 Kings 12.
Joash became king when he was 7. “Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the years Jehoiada the priest instructed him.” 2 Kings 12:2 NIV
How does one stay the course, do “what is right in the eyes of The Lord?” Joash was young, he had some growing up to do. Seems he found wisdom in Jehoiada the Priest and received his instruction well. We all could stand to heed well the wisdom God has surrounded us with, and let go of the “I got it all figured out”, attitude (Job 12:12).
At some level we all struggle with humility. We seem to equate it with something negative - but God considers it strength in faith and asks for just that from us (1 Peter 5:6).
Israel was a mess. The Temple was run down from a string of Godless self serving kings. As Joash grew, he got to work! It wasn’t as if God used him for some grand miracle. He simply was steady… obedient… taking care of Temple repairs as God provided the resources. He took care of things that needed to be done.
Don’t get caught up in the idea that “God is only moving or working through me if He uses me to move the mountains.” Maybe He is… just not all at once but one shovel full at a time!
Love you all! Dig in!
