1 Kings 8

Good Morning “Acknowledgers of All of God’s Character.”  Today we are in 1 Kings 8.

At last a Temple.  A place for God to dwell.  As we read through this chapter I am struck by Solomon’s words as he prays to dedicate The Temple.  Our God is unfathomable, mysterious in all His ways yet intimate in our relationship with Him.  He is just, bringing correction / discipline on His people for their sin… yet quick with mercy and forgiveness when they repent.

The Temple, like The mobile Tabernacle before it very specifically constructed, and adorned bringing Glory to God.  A place worthy of His dwelling.  We are the Dwelling Place of His Holy Spirit.  Uniquely crafted (Psalm 139:13-14), and specifically adorned in Righteousness (Ephesians 4:17-32) - for His Glory and Service.

Even here as Solomon and Israel offered hundreds of thousands of sacrifices “too many to count”, God most desires their hearts!  Micah sought to stay The Lords hand, and proposed any number of sacrifices - even their firstborn sons.   The Lords response through Micah… “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we’re out of line, our Loving Father will bring us back.  Apart from our hearts, fully devoted to Him, our sin washed away by The Blood of Christ - He’s not impressed with our Sacrifices.  Romans 12:1 is specific “…Holy, Pure, and Pleasing to Him.”

Love you all!  Dig in!
