1 Kings 5

Good Morning “Careful to Look Deep.”  Today we are in 1 Kings 5.

Since the Exodus Gods people have been nomadic, moving from here to there, seldom experiencing peace.  So… the dwelling place of The Lord was the Tabernacle.  Very specifically constructed but very specifically mobile as well.

Solomon intends to build a Temple for the Lord.  Today’s passage reads like both a hiring list and shopping list.  It would be easy to gloss over these details and miss any application for us.  Never forget these words, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So what do we see here?  A few things quickly come to the surface:

- Solomon’s preparation to build the Temple confirms Gods promise to David in 2 Samuel 7:12-13.  God always keeps His promises!  If He said it, that settles it!  Trust it’s True!  I love that He continues to give us confirmation throughout Scripture!

- As always within these pages comes another picture.  In these, a picture of a future Kingdom to come - an eternal Kingdom with the offer of Salvation through Jesus.

-  1 Kings 4:34 says that people came from all around the world to hear Solomon’s Wisdom.  Kings sent their people.  Don’t overlook vs 7… “When Hiram heard Solomon’s message, he was greatly pleased and said, “Praise be to the Lord today, for he has given David a wise son to rule over this great nation.”  What?  This is a pagan King praising The Lord?  Wisdom, applying Gods Word to life, moves people!  The writer doesn’t speak to Hiram’s conversion… but Praising The Lord is at least a start.

Love you all!  Dig in
