1 Kings 1

Good Morning “You With No Worldly Agenda.” Today we are in 1 Kings 1.

David is growing older and less able to perform his duties as king by the minute.  His son, Adonijah decides “I’ll be king”… trouble is, he has not received David’s blessing nor has he received Gods anointing.  He like Absalom has the look, and the charm.  He quickly wins the favor of some with a big party, many sacrifices - translation much feasting!  There are always some whose votes can be bought.

Up steps Nathan who stands in the gap with David once more.  His only agenda appears to be honoring The Lord by honoring David.  David responds quickly and with a small group of faithful anoints Solomon King.  Word goes out, Adonijah’s “supporters” shutter and flee, and Adonijah begins the begging for his life.

The coup is over before it really begins!  Isn’t it amazing what God can do though the one who is willing.  The one who has a Biblical, perspective with no added worldly objective?  He is simply willing to be a piece in God’s plan — and, incredibly, God uses him to overturn the whole plot..

Love you all!  Dig in!  Know The Word and live by It!
