Good Morning “Acknowledgers of God in ALL Things.” Today we are in 2 Samuel 22.
How did David a man after Gods own heart look back and view the struggles of life? In success, in failure, loved and despised by the nation, grace and discipline, in peace and war - David acknowledges God.
This passage, together with Psalm 18 help to paint a picture of David’s heart. Without these passages we are left to assumption, as we read much of David’s life story… Or are we? God called David a man after his own heart. What does that mean in our minds. Is that not sufficient to assume with such a prestigious title David MUST HAVE BEEN such?
As you read these passages, and hopefully check out Psalm 18, let David’s worship and praise penetrate. Consider the ways in which we worship, not just in song but in living. Do our words and our actions mimic those of David’s. Do the songs we sing and the lives we live find Him as the focus? Many of our contemporary worship songs turn the focus back on us instead of Him. May we recognize such songs and despise them for we are nothing apart from Him. It’s ALL Jesus. It’s not about us.
God was not absent in David’s darkest hours… no in fact He was most present actively teaching lessons that had to be learned. Do we acknowledge God in all things (Proverbs 3:5-6)?
May these passages inspire you as they have me. Love you all! Dig in!
