Good Morning “Followers of The Promise Keeper.” Today we are in 2 Samuel 5.
The time has come. God has prepared David well. Even David’s former pursuers have now changed their tune.
“David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.” 2 Samuel 5:4 NIV
It’s been around 15 years since Samuel anointed David as Saul’s replacement - the promised king. We live in a drive through, “same day delivery”, have it now society. Imagine receiving a promise from The Lord, then waiting faithfully for 15 years before it happens.
Doubts are a part of human nature. There were times when even David doubted Gods promise. 1 Samuel 27:1 for instance. The question is, what happens in the midst of our doubts? Do we press in closer to The Father or fall away?
God is ALWAYS faithful. The closer we remain with Him, in Him, the easier it is to remain faithful - for faith comes from The Father (Romans 12:3). So, plug into The Source of faith. Let me return to the child walking hand in hand with his dad analogy. That child fears nothing. If dad has done his job, that child feels absolutely safe and protected. “Nothing can touch me when I’m with my dad” (John 10:28-29).
As fathers it’s important that we give credit where credit it due. As our children grow, may they learn that all that we seek comes from The Lord… we’re just a vessel or tool. It’s all God, the keeper of promises.
Dig in! Love you all!
