Good Morning “Strengthened in The Lord.” Today we are in 1 Samuel 30.
Last chapter Achish’s leaders rightfully doubt David’s loyalty to the Philistines. Despite his argument in David’s favor, Achish relents and sends David back to home in Ziklag. David and his men return only to find that the Amalekites have retaliated and burned their city and taken all their wives and children captive. David and his men wept aloud until they had no more strength to weep.
His men want to stone him in response. “…But David found strength in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 NIV. His God… did you catch that? David returns to “his” God. The passage seems to emphasize David’s personal relationship with “his God”. Furthermore he sends for the Priest and the Ephod that he might further inquire of The Lord concerning his response to the attack.
David’s back! How often do we in moments of pride and arrogance - go it alone? Consider the depth David had to fall to turn back to God. Do we do that? Do we take matters into our own hands only to prompt God to remind us of how badly we need Him? Why not stay connected, drawing daily strength from The Lord rather than waiting until we have no strength left? Why not commune daily with our High Priest Jesus instead of putting Him on the back burner why we live our self guided chapters of our lives? (Hebrews 4:15-16).
Love you all! Dig in!
