Good Morning “Those Who Seek Shelter in The Lord.” Today we are in 1 Samuel 22.
Today we get yet another picture of Jesus through the life of David. David receives the unlikely here, and brings them in close. “All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.”
1 Samuel 22:2 NIV
Jesus in Matthew 11:28 says
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
God was with David, and had an incredible plan for his life. Through this reading we are seeing the details of that plan unfold but God put these pieces in place long before.
As David is running for his life he recognizes the need to make sure his parents are protected and taken care of - So he takes them to the King of Moab. What? Are you wondering why the king of Moab? How about this… David is the son of Jesse. Jesse is the Grandson of Ruth the Moabite. That makes David Ruth’s Great Grandson. David sought protection for his parents from their kin. As we see the pieces and parts come together - it’s ok if your jaw drops.
As we walk through life do we perceive it as a bunch of problems that God then places Band-Aid’s on? He’s not “hard at it” trying to find solutions to the problems created by man’s choices. The plan already exists and is unfolding in front of our eyes. God created you with an incredible plan for your life already in place (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10). It’s ok if your jaw drops as you see the pieces and parts fall together. As it drops, don’t forget to praise Him.
Love you all! Dig in!
