1 Samuel 11

Good Morning “United In The Battle.”  Today we are in 1 Samuel 11.

Nahash has overtaken Jabash Gilead.  The men of Jabash are crying uncle.  Stop, make a treaty with us and we’ll be subject to you they say.   However; victory is not enough for Nahash - check it out.

”But Nahash the Ammonite replied, “I will make a treaty with you only on the condition that I gouge out the right eye of every one of you and so bring disgrace on all Israel.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Disgrace on Gods people is what he wanted.  He wanted their right eye.  Why the right eye?  For most of us our right eye is dominate.  Cover your right eye and try to focus, try to remain coordinated, pretend you are swinging a sword.   The men of Jabash would be rendered useless, unable to recognize attack - unable to ever defend themselves or their families again.

He makes a huge mistake though… in his arrogance he allows them 7 days to unite.  They unite, and they conquer under Saul.

The evil one, that runs free for this time in our world today, would have us all be rendered useless!  He wants to disgrace Gods people.  Consider that opposition to Christianity in our world still wants the same thing - to disgrace Gods people.  Hope and Faith in The God of all creation, Salvation though Jesus alone, and The Truth - is mocked as an uneducated, judgmental, naive belief system.   In fact all science agrees and points to a creator.  The facts surrounding Jesus are unarguable except by the naive!  We can see the destruction living our own truth (not truth at all) can bring.

63% of Americans claimed to be Christians in 2021.  If we are the majority, how did the world get where it’s at?  We are NOT united in battle.  We are NOT all heading the same direction, focused on the same goals.  Why?  I believe it’s because we are NOT united in the Holy Spirit and tutored by The Word of God.  It’s as if we’ve already had our fighting eye gouged out.  Each one does what is right in their own eyes.

Love you all!  Dig in!  Know and live by His Word!
