Good Morning “Never Forgetting Who God Is”. Today we are in Deuteronomy 4.
Moses is reminding the nation of Israel of all they have experienced and why.
”You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.“ Deuteronomy 4:35 NIV
You may remember Gods purpose in hardening pharaohs heart prior to the Exodus. It was so the full extent of His power might be displayed, that they would KNOW He was Lord and teach these Truths to their children and grandchildren. In short - that the world would know! This is an important Truth still today. It is incumbent upon us as parents to “Teach these things to our children”.
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
As parents, grandparents, teachers, pastors - we are responsible to train them. Then, the implied natural response is the 5th commandment. It’s the only commandment that comes with a promise. ”“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12 NIV
Here in Deuteronomy we see those two passages summarized as a picture.
”Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.“ Deuteronomy 4:40 NIV
Know Him, and tell everyone you know! Love you all! Dig in!
