Good Morning “Bridge Crossers.” Today we are in Job 9.
Man Job has a way of laying it out simply and plainly. God is God and we are NOT. He is over ALL things and He is just in all He does. Who can challenge Him? No ONE. Who could stand up in court against Him - none. He is Holy, Perfect, and Righteous in all He does. Although we have questions who can question Him?
Job recognizes his place before a Holy God yet laments… if only He were human that we could interact. Job goes on as if to suggest He is there, and I am here… if only there were a bridge across this divide. “If only there were someone to mediate between us, someone to bring us together, someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more.”
Job 9:33-34 NIV
Ahhhh… but there it is. Remember Scripture is one story beginning to end. What Job was realizing is the broken, “hole in our heart cry” of every man… we need someone to save us, someone to mediate for us before The Holy God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1-4 NIV
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 NIV
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
1 John 2:1-2 NIV
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.”
1 Timothy 2:5-6 NIV
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16 NIV
Rejoice, Rejoice!!! Again I say Rejoice! We have a bridge across the chasm between God and man - The Savior Jesus! We have what Job longed for!
Love you all! Dig in!
