Good Morning “Sin Acknowledgers”. Today we are in Hosea 6.
“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.”
Hosea 6:1-2 NIV
Hosea pleads with Israel to “return” to The Lord. Israel’s promiscuous sin separated her from God.
The only way to “return” to a right relationship with The Lord is genuine repentance (Acts 3:19). Remember God is concerned with the heart! He makes that clear in vs 6. More than sacrifice He wants our heart. A genuinely repentant heart acknowledges their sin, doesn’t discount or defend it, (Isaiah 5:20) and agrees with God that it’s wrong. Then, we can ask forgiveness (1 John 1:9). What good is asking forgiveness if we don’t believe the thing we did is wrong?
God through Hosea then promises restoration. That’s the recipe. That’s how it works. There is no other way (John 14:6). In painting the picture of the path to restoration for Israel, Hosea alludes to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
Ignoring, discounting, calling our sin ok or good, changes nothing before a Holy God. We may fool ourselves, we might even fool others, but God is never fooled (Psalm 51:3-4). With The Way to be reconciled to God clearly laid out for us, why would anyone arrogantly refuse Him? Jesus died that we might live (Isaiah 53:6, John 3:16)
Love you all! Dig in and live It out!
