Amos 6

Good Morning “Humble”.  Today we are in Amos 6.

God lost patience with all of Israel, both the Northern 10 tribes we call Israel and the Southern 2 we refer to as Judah.

Judah may have been a little slower in her decent into idol worship, but she was full of sin nonetheless.  Here God addresses the fact that while Northern Israel has spun out and faces judgment - Judah languishes in Zion (Jerusalem).  Judah could care less about their brothers to the North.

Rather than be broken, or mourn for the sin of the Northern Kingdom Judah becomes prideful.  Perhaps they looked North and thought… “well, they deserve what they are getting.  Too bad they’re not as Holy and Righteous as we are.”

Proverbs 16:18 reminds us that pride comes before the fall!  Their pride, their complacency causes them to let their guard down and drift away.  They believe they have it all figured out.  While Israel is conquered by Assyria, they sit back and watch… yet, they too are on their way.

As we’ve studied, Judah will fall to Babylon some 200 years later.  May we never become so overcome with pride, that we forget that anything good in us or through us is ALL God!

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
