Amos 1

Good Morning “Those who Prophecy”.   Today we are in Amos 1.

Amos sheep breeder, a
businessman who prophesied.  He wasn’t only a prophet.

This mere fact should encourage every layman: prophecy is not exclusively a calling for “professionals.” As a matter of fact, Paul said that the ability to prophesy was something every believer should pursue, pray to the Lord for. (1 Corinthians 14:1).

Paul goes on to say the reason that believers prophesy is to speak to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation, building up the community of believers. (1 Corinthians 14:3-4) This does NOT mean that we receive a new Word from God that He wants us to share.  He’s already revealed His Word to us.  Instead it means we take the already written Word of God apply and share it - apply it to situations we see around us. The modern day prophet helps people understand how Gods Word applies to them.

Simply put, we should seek God and ask that He reveal His Word (the Bible) to us, with the intent that we would share that revelation with others. God reveals the Truth of His Word, so we will share it, which is precisely what I am doing right now!

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
