Daniel 4

Good Morning “Humble and Totally Submitted.”  Today we are in Daniel 5.

Nebuchadnezzar’s son, Belshazzar, is king.  He appears to have followed in his father’s early life footsteps.  He is harsh, prideful, self serving, and dishonoring of the One True God who holds each ruler in His hand.  He appears to have forgotten his father’s story of judgment, humbling, repentance and restoration (vs 18-21).

It wasn’t like he didn’t know.  He knew (vs 22)!  So… God supernaturally sends Belshazzar a message, which Daniel ends up subsequently interpreting.  Even in the moment of interpretation, I gotta believe if he had repented and turned to God… The Lord might have relented.  Nevertheless, he didn’t, and that night Belshazzar was destroyed.

Why are we like this?  How many in your face warnings did Judah receive? Even when we witness the consequences of other’s actions, both natural and Gods direct judgment… we often continue our own way.  Judah ignored Gods Word and warnings through many prophets over dozens of years.  Their kings ignored the witness of their fathers - just like Belshazzar, this gentile king.

They continued “their own way” and it landed them in Babylon.  Why must we cling to “our own way”?  It doesn’t work!  It’s momentary, and empty!  Judgment will come!  There is a better way!  The Way, The Truth, and The Life - Jesus (John 14:6). He’s not a secret.  God has made Him known.  Humble repentance, and TOTAL submission is the expectation (Roman’s 12:1).  Living out His Word is our demonstration that our surrender is REAL!  No fruit, no faith - not real? (Luke 6:43-45, James 2:17-26).

Love you all!  Dig in, and live it out!
