Hosea 2

Good Morning “Those who acknowledge Him in ALL things.” Today we are in Hosea 2.

Remember Hosea is both a story of Hosea’s life with his promiscuous wife Gomer, and a metaphor for promiscuous Israel - The Lords Bride.  Considering the human side (Hosea and his wife) seem’s to help put the horror of Israel’s sin in perspective.  I believe that’s Gods intent.

It’s easy to discount our sin.  Without much thought we embrace our flesh, feed it, and seek glory for ourselves.  We even discount The Lords incredible blessing, as though we achieved it ourselves (Deuteronomy 8:11-18).

In so doing we deceive ourselves into believing we’re in control.  We can stand alone without God and His provision.  Consider some of the many mantras our world propagates: “Be who you want to be”, “Create your own destiny”, “Just do it”, “I am strong, I am capable, I am kind.”

Ummm NO!  Apart from God in us, we are weak, incapable, and sinful (John 15:5, Colossians 1:21).

Such was Gomer’s problem as well as Israel’s.
“She has not acknowledged that I was the one who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil, who lavished on her the silver and gold— which they used for Baal.”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We would do well to continually acknowledge that even our breath is a gift of His hand.  Should He at anytime remove His hand we not only lack basic provision, but life and breath its self (Proverbs 3:5-8, Job 33:4).  Israel in her sin and rejection of God gets a taste of exactly that…

Must we also endure His absence to appreciate and be thankful for His presence?

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
