Good Morning “Choosers”. Today we wrap up Daniel with chapter 12.
Chapter 12 is a cliff note summary of our end times timeline - it’s meant to be encouraging because Daniel believes they / we will choose wisely. Daniel gets right down to it here. He hits the high points and truly answers the question looming in the minds of his people… - Where do I fit into “End Times Prophecy?” Perhaps we carry the same question?
“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.”
Daniel 12:1 NIV
The time of great distress Daniel refers to is no doubt the 7 years of Tribulation - another chance for both Jew and Gentile to show themselves faithful. Those whose names are written in The Book of Life will be delivered… they must or their name would not be in The Book of Life. Some will be delivered before the thing even gets rolling as Jesus comes back to snatch up (rapture) True Believers (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Paul also gives us a bit of a timeline overview in 1 Corinthians 15-20-24.
Then there are those that will suffer through and die “lose their heads”, as Tribulation Martyrs (Revelation 20:4), they will be raised and reign for 1000 years with Jesus and the other believers (armies of Heaven) that return with Jesus (Revelation 19:14). “…This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” Revelation 20:5-6 NIV
What about the others Daniel refers to in 12:2? They will be raised to face judgment at the end of the 1000 years. The 2nd resurrection of the dead. IT WONT BE FUN or PRETTY (Revelation 20).
Daniel’s laying out the Truth of the simple options that await both his people, and frankly us. Heaven or Hell - Choose (John 14:6, Romans 8:1). For us… If we hope to escape eternal judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven we can repent and choose now - in which case we skip the Tribulation. Or we can wait and endure suffering, the likes of which the world has never seen, (Tribulation) and hope we prove faithful through it. The beauty of Gods Grace is we get to choose. (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 8:1, John 1:12-13, 3:16).
Love you all! Dig in, live it out!
