Daniel 8

Good Morning “Ready”.  Today we are in Daniel 8.

I was appalled by the vision; it was beyond understanding.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭8‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬  Imagine being Daniel and receiving both near term prophecy and future end time prophecy within the same vision.

We are fortunate in that we can look back at recorded history and see the short term prophecy already fulfilled.  History taught us of Media Persia, the rise of Alexander “The Great”, and his untimely his young death.  As a result, the Greek Empire was split into four smaller empires.

When we get to verse 23, however; the style of the narrative changes. Rather than giving us a name, Gabriel speaks of “a king.” Instead of providing a date, he only says it is “in the latter time.” This opens the door for us to look for a dual fulfillment. But be careful.  We can only ascribe to this or any other prophecy a near and far fulfillment if we find support throughout the rest of Scripture.  In this case, we definitely do.
(2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, Revelation 13:1-8).

So who else are we talking about here?  I’ll let you come to the conclusion.

This is just one supporting passage, but clearly we know we have not reached the end of the story.  God through Daniel was giving us yet another peak at both World History, and “out of this world”, future end times prophecy.   May the near term fulfillment of the first part of this prophecy serve to ready us for the 2nd part. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, Matthew 24)

You ready?

Love you all!  Dig in, live it out!
