Daniel 2

Good Morning “Those Who Honor, and Seek Honor for The Lord.”  Today we are in Daniel 2.

Daniel’s faith is indeed extraordinary!  With the circumstances Daniel and the other exiles experienced as they were driven to Babylon, one might expect Daniel’s faith to be weak at this point.  No way!  Daniel no doubt understood the compromised faith of Judah landed them there in the first place.  Not so with Daniel.

Notice, even in yesterday’s story he never argues with his authority thus dishonoring him and The Lord (Romans 13:1-7).  He approaches every situation with honor and integrity.  He recognizes he has no power on his own.  It’s all God!  He diligently seeks God when their lives are on the line, asking a pretty big ask, believing God can do all things (Ephesians 3:20)!

Then, after God responds - Daniel acknowledges it.

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king.”” Daniel‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After some fast talking Daniel finds himself before the king interpreting his dream in the way The Lord had disclosed (vs 24-). But first, check it out… the king asks Daniel if he can indeed interpret his dream.  Daniel could have just said yes, but he doesn’t.  Potentially putting his life on the line once again, he makes it clear to the king that he could do no such thing.  No one can.  There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.  Daniel points the king to God.  Then reveals the vision God gave him.  The kings response…

“The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.”” Daniel‬ ‭2‬:‭47‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Man… there are so many applications for us in this children’s story!  That’s just it… it was never meant to be just a kids story.  The applications are universal!

Love you all!  Dig in!
