Amos 4

Good Morning “Real Deals”.  Today we are in Amos 4.

That guy is the “real deal”.  “He’s of the same tribe.” “She gets it!” “They’re dialed, solid, grounded!” Others might describe them as “Based”.

We’ve often made little statements such as those - when describing an individual that TRULY purposes to live out Scripture!  They want more than anything to honor The Lord and Glorify Him.  They don’t just talk a good talk… they walk it out, and as a result are indeed a good example for all who surround them (Matthew 5:16).

It’s interesting because those individuals seem to also reflect joy no matter what life throws their way (John 15:1-11).  They are not tossed or tripped up and brought down by things the world throws at them (Ephesians 4:13-14).  In short, they seem to reflect the “Fruit of The Spirit” (Galatians 5:22-23).  Furthermore they understand, that it’s NOT reasonable to believe that they can experience That Fruit, if they stray from The Lord and His Spirit.  We must be ONE with The Lord, to experience His incredible gifts.  We must be IN a relationship to experience the benefits of that relationship.

Whether it’s here in our own towns or different states or even nations; as I travel - it seems those that “get it”, are in short supply.  However; those who can talk a good talk, who claim Christ, wear the T-Shirt, maybe even follow all the rules - are not.  Many are those that believe the stuff of the world and its ability to provide temporary fodder for their flesh… is good enough.  There are plenty of people who talk Christian, not nearly as many who walk like Christ.

Israel had it down.  They had found a way to walk the line, embrace their flesh, while STILL going through all the “religious” motions.  Check it out… God calls their heartless worship sinful (Amos 4:4-5).

He has given them warning after warning, escalating correction as needed.  They have ignored it all.  As a result, near term - He uses Assyria to bring them down.  Israel was beaten, stripped, chained, hooked at the lip and forced to walk hundreds of miles into Assyrian captivity.

One  day they too will “get it” (Romans 11:26)!  How about us (Matthew 7:21-23)?

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
