Good Morning “Recipients of Grace”. Today we finish Hosea with chapter 14.
If you’ve been reading with us, you likely found yourself asking “Where’s the encouraging part of Hosea?” Well, here it is! Hopefully you understood the Truth of this chapter throughout the entire Book, and caught the thread of It woven through each chapter.
Remember, Gods Word from Genesis to Revelation is the story of Gods offer of salvation and redemption to those who will choose to repent of their sin, and turn to Him. Ultimately that salvation and redemption was bought and paid for on The Cross with The Blood of Jesus.
But why does there seem to be so many chapters dedicated to Gods wrath and judgment and so few like this one, dedicated to His restoration and blessing? It’s simple really… Israel, Judah, failed to repent and turn back to God. We perceive them as angry, harsh, judgment and wrath chapters and miss Gods Grace entirely. We fail to see the reason God warned them over and over, through prophet after prophet - WAS because He loved them!
From the very beginning it’s been quite simple. Rebel and reject God - experience consequences. Return and repent - experience restoration, forgiveness and blessing. Restoration is impossible without repentance… so God continues to plead with them. With us.
This chapter summarizes my point quite well.
“Return, Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall! Hosea 14:1 NIV
“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.” Hosea 14:4 NIV
“Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.”
Hosea 14:9 NIV
How can The Word of God, filled with Books and Chapters warning of His wrath, be considered harsh - when the plan of escape is also clearly outlined? Jesus!!! (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9, Acts 3:19, Romans 8:1). There is no other Way! It’s not out there! (John 14:6)
Love you all! Dig in and live It out!
