Good Morning “Ambassadors”. Today we are in Ezekiel 33.
Ezekiel’s call to be a “prophet” and a “watchman” for Israel was made clear through the first few chapters of this book. Here the call to be a watchman is reiterated.
A watchman had the job of watching for danger and then sounding the alarm. The people then were responsible to listen to the watchman and then respond accordingly.
For both sides, God makes both His expectations, as well as the resulting consequences of both obedience and disobedience clear.
As followers of Jesus, we are to be the Salt that purposes to preserve Gods righteous standard. Empowered by the Holy Spirit we are the “restraint” placed in this world to “hold back” the evil (2 Thessalonians 2:7). We ought to shine His light through our lives and actions acting as “watchmen” to a lost and hurting world (Matthew 5:14-19)! Ezekiel’s charge is our charge (2 Corinthians 5:20)!
God wraps up by once again reminding Ezekiel… the people may not listen, likely they won’t, but that does not in any way remove expectation to warn them with The Truth!
We all have multifaceted work to do. Are you making yourself available for God to do it through you? It begins with obedience in the little things. It begins with our relationship with Him! It begins with His Word (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 8:1, Ephesians 2:8-10, Joshua 1:8).
Love you all! Dig in! Happy New Year! Let’s kick 2026 off with a new commitment to righteousness.
