Good Morning “Guilty”. Today we are in Jeremiah 25.
Everyone is in the same boat - guilty. God through Jeremiah makes that clear in this chapter.
Judah will face 70 years of judgment for disregarding The Word of The Lord and turning a deaf ear to His prophets. Even Jeremiah has plead with them for 23 years to no avail.
It doesn’t end there though… once the 70 years is complete, Babylon, despite being a tool to bring judgment upon Judah - will face judgment herself. Why? Guilty. Babylon too was wrought with sin, further evidenced by the way Judah was treated during captivity.
It’s not just Judah and Babylon. The whole world has a sin problem (Romans 3:23). Guilty. Jeremiah moves to describe the coming “cup of wrath” on the whole world as Gods wrath spreads from nation to nation. The detailed description of the destruction brought about by Gods wrath - seems to parallel that of Tribulation followed by the return of Jesus with the Armies of Heaven (Revelation 19:11-18).
If all are guilty, and most definitely all are - will anyone be spared? Well sin must be paid for! Gods character demands it! Enter Jesus, who took our sin and its punishment upon Himself. He became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). That’s it! He’s the Only Way (John 14:6). Jesus took the “cup of wrath” meant for us, upon Himself and with it experienced separation from The Father and The Spirit (Luke 22:42, Matthew 27:46).
The price for sin has been paid and satisfied! Yet, each one has a choice to make. Believe on The Blood of Jesus (belief is evidenced by repentant action), and be saved… or remain subject to Gods “cup of wrath” (Romans 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, Acts 3:19, Romans 8:1). Why would anyone knowingly choose Gods wrath? They did. They do. They will.
Love you all! Dig in!
