Psalm 140

Good Morning “Trouble Takers.”  Today we are in Psalm 140.

David begins this Psalm by again praying for rescue and protection from the wicked, the evil, those who devise plans to hurt or destroy him.

But wait, David was called “The man after Gods own heart” - by God Himself, (1 Samuel 13:14). Gods plan, The Promise of Jesus The Savior, included David.  Jesus came to us through the line of David (2 Samuel 7:12-16).  If any believer was destined to live a charmed life, shouldn’t it have been David?

Progressive Christian “feel good” teaching has somehow given many the idea that when we “receive Jesus”, or “get saved” - that we have also been saved from the worlds struggles.  If we are now Gods children, and God is Good… well then, I should now get all the goodies.  Everything will be different now… bunnies, rainbows and fairy tails forever!  Unfortunately there is nothing Biblical about that kind of thinking!  In fact the reality is the opposite.

Jesus told His Disciples, those that chose to commit their lives to following Him - “… In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Wait, but why?  Because when you give your life to Jesus you become a child of God (John 1:12).  As a child of God you become an enemy of the evil one who’s aim is to seek, kill and destroy anyone and everything related to God and His plan (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8, John 15:18-25).  The evil one can use anything - even other believers (Matthew 16:23).

God never promises protection from the struggle, in fact we are told to consider trials pure joy (James 1:2-4), because they test our faith and make us mature in Jesus.  When we remain faithful in the midst of struggle God is glorified.  The light of Jesus shines the brightest through us in the midst of darkness (Matthew 5:13-16).  When Jesus prayed in the garden the night of His arrest, He didn’t pray that God would keep trouble from us… only that our souls would be preserved from Satan (John 17:14-16).  Our strength to endure and succeed, comes from The Word of God (John 17:17, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:9-11, Ephesians 6:10-18).

Read It, know It, live It, and you’ll remain strong with Him in you!
Love you all!  Dig in!
