Good Morning “In Peace”. Today we are in Micah 5.
In today’s chapter God brings glimpses of near and long term prophecy. He speaks of the near term judgment both Judah and Israel will face, then seamlessly transitions to tribulation. Assyria is seen both as a geographical enemy of Israel and a general metaphor for all of the enemies of Gods people. As we’ve studied The Bible together we’ve talked about all of these events. See if you and identify them as you read this chapter.
Through it all there is One that is always there. A Ruler Who will rise up to deliver Gods people. He will rise up, but seemingly has always been with them and will remain. He does not just bring peace but is Himself Peace.
“He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be our peace when the Assyrians invade our land and march through our fortresses.” Micah 5:4-5 NIV
Who is this prophesied, all sustaining, all powerful ruler that has existed from ancient times? If you’re still unsure check out the following passages: Colossians 1:16-17; John 1; John 17:5, 17:24; Genesis 16:7-13; Genesis 32:24-32; Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 6:11-24; Judges 13:8-24; Daniel 3
Did you put it all together? Remember The Bible is one story, from beginning to end. It’s the story of Gods Mercy, Grace, and offer of salvation and redemption through Jesus. Remember… The name “Jesus” was not known as a name for the Second Person of the Trinity until the angel Gabriel announced it to Mary (Luke 1:31). But the eternal Son existed before He revealed Himself as “Jesus.”
Prophecy is a gift! God has fulfilled hundreds and hundreds of prophecies; many given thousands of years ago… with 100% accuracy (2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 1:22-23).
What does the future hold? Simply read His Word?
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
