Jeremiah 9

Good Morning “In Gods Strength”. Today we are in Jeremiah 9.

Today’s passage reminds me of Caleb in the book of Joshua.  Caleb was about 85 years old, yet he boasted, “I’m as strong as I ever was.”  Some have claimed that living a clean, Godly life kept Caleb physically fit.  Doubtful!  I believe Caleb’s strength was in his acknowledgment that God was his strength!  When he was young, Caleb didn’t trust in his youthfulness, and when he was old, he didn’t cower in his frailty.  His strength was always and only in the Lord.

This is precisely what the Lord is communicating to Judah.  Furthermore, it is what God was communicating to the Corinthian church through Paul.

“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.””
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our boast is in the Lord. Only The Lord (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Today’s chapter reminds us that God delights in showing His faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth.

“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’ “Therefore, son of man, say to your people, ‘If someone who is righteous disobeys, that person’s former righteousness will count for nothing. And if someone who is wicked repents, that person’s former wickedness will not bring condemnation. The righteous person who sins will not be allowed to live even though they were formerly righteous.’”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God is Holy and Just.  His character demands He deal with the guilty.  But if men will turn from their sin, recognize and follow Jesus as Lord, they will be saved!  No man is so bad that he cannot have God’s grace, and none is so good that he doesn’t need it.

Love you all!  Dig in!
