Zechariah 9

Good Morning “Those Who See”.  Today we are in Zechariah 9.

Chapters 9-11 gives us prophecy of the coming Messiah, Jesus, and His rejection by His own people.  Chapters 12-14 follow with the inspired account of Jesus’ second coming and His acceptance by the repentant Remnant.

Israel’s rejection of Messiah shouldn’t surprise us.  Jesus did not come as many had imagined.  They were already accustomed to making their beliefs and their worship into what fed their flesh. Their rejection of Him, even The Cross - was just the culmination of the natural consequence of a people used to ignoring The Word of God.

These chapters, together with the rest of prophecy, stand as evidence that they ALL knew!  At least they should have.  They should have known the manner in which Messiah was coming and recognized it as fulfilled prophecy.  Together with the disciples there was at least a remnant who did! They all cried out, “Hosanna!” which literally translates, “Save us now!” Surely, they saw Jesus as the fulfillment of Zechariah’s prediction.  Yet, through His trials they remained silent.

Matthew Mark and Luke all refer back to today’s prophecy (Matthew 21:2-5, Mark 11:1-9, Luke 19:28-35).  Jesus fulfilled this prophecy to the letter - as He will the rest.

When Jesus comes a second time, it will not be as the humble Prince who rides His donkey through the streets while His disciples herald his arrival. No, in the second coming, He will present Himself as the Warrior King on the white horse of victorious judgment, with the “armies of Heaven” (Revelation 19).  It is then that He will take His throne ruling in perfect righteousness and justice.

For those in intimate communion with Jesus through His Word, we SHOULD see the end coming for it has been prophesied. “Should”… if our flesh will allow it.

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
