Good Morning “Foundation Builders.” Today we are in Zechariah 4.
“So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6 NIV
Zerubbabel was given the job of rebuilding the physical Temple. Another, known as the “Son of David, Jesus, would come later. He has gone ahead of us, not just to build another Temple, but to prepare a whole New Jerusalem for those who faithfully believe in Him.
Both understood the most important part of any project is the foundation. Builders understand much care must be given to the foundation and even the soil underneath, if the building is going to stand securely.
The same is true for The Temple of The Living God. Us! We often want to jump ahead to the fruit… the “big stuff”. “People gotta see me, I gotta save someone.” (P.S. we save NO ONE). But God tells us that we should not despise the day of “small things” (Zechariah 4:10). There is power in doing simple things diligently: Bible study, prayer, seeking His will above ours, serving within The Body (Joshua 1:8, Romans 12:1-2).
You may not be a huge “fruit producer” initially. But spiritual disciplines are “foundation builders,” growing seeds of readiness & righteousness. The Lord; in His timing, by The Holy Spirit (John 14:26), provides the might & strength needed for spiritual success, according to His will - which we learn from reading His Word.
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
