Ezekiel 7

Good Morning “Worshipers of The Lord.”  Today we are in Ezekiel 7.

“Then they will know that I am the Lord.” Ezekiel‬ ‭7‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That phrase or something very close to it appears around 72 times in Scripture - 58 times in Ezekiel alone.  Ok… so… what’s the point?  Shouldn’t God’s people already KNOW He is Lord?  Lord of ALL!

In their rejection of Him and His Word they had forgotten.  They had become so focused on The World and its lures, the feeding of their flesh… that they forgot the All Powerful, Sovereign One!

Modern Christianity has attempted to make God the benevolent grandfather in the sky, the “Man Upstairs”, that exists to grant our wishes and bless us abundantly with no expectations.  We’ve redefined love to mean unconditional expectance and celebration of all things including those things that are harmful, destructive - sinful (Romans 1).  We’ve lost our compass, because we’ve forgotten His Word.

So 72 times through His Prophets, God promises judgment on His people, and concludes “Then they will know that I am The Lord”.  Then!  When?  After their idols are destroyed, after all that they have put false hope in is stripped away, after they are brought to their knees… “Then they will know I am The Lord”.

I don’t know about you… but to me, that’s horrifying.  When I look at our world and its current state, and consider that we, the church are to blame - it seems we have forgotten He is Lord (2 Chronicles 7:14).  We are be salt and light - the restraint, we are to preserve righteousness (Matthew 5:13-16).

I know what you’re thinking… how can I possibly make a dent in the spiritual condition of The World?  Well, let’s start first with the one in the mirror.  Remember the statistic… only 8% of Christians read The Word daily - despite Gods Command.  The Word of God taught by the Spirit of God IS Gods Tool for our strength, for our guidance, to keep us on track… it brings promise of Spiritual success (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:9-11).  Are you part of the 8%, or have you allowed other things to take the place of His Word in your life?  It’s an important question.  He is The Lord!

Love you all!  Dig in!
