Good Morning “Friends, not Enemies of God.” Today we are in Lamentations 2.
I could not soften, or water down this chapter even if I wanted to. The message is abundantly clear! Although Babylon was the tool, God was the clear administer of His wrath. All of Israel knew better - all of mankind knows better (Romans 1-2).
Hence… “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 NIV
This is FEAR! It is not simply awe, but the terror that ought strike us all, in the face of a Holy God who expects His Children, so abundantly blessed by His Mercy and Grace - to act like it.
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV
He gives us His Holy Spirit to provide the strength to do so (Romans 6:1-14). His expectation comes with the promise of correction if we get it wrong (Hebrews 12:4-).
“It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Israel / Judah straight up rejected God and His Word and instead embraced The World.
“You’d adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” James 4:4
God was NOT their enemy, but they made Him so.
“Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of Daughter Zion.” Lamentations 2:4 NIV
