Jeremiah 45

Good Morning “Messengers of The Truth… The Whole Truth… Nothing but The Truth - in Love”.  Today we are in Jeremiah 45.

The authors of Scripture penned as God led.  Today’s chapter may seem out of place unless you recall chapter 36.  Review Jeremiah 36:1-6.

At the time of this warning to Baruch, Jeremiah is barred from the Temple.  Why?  Well he was calling out their sin, false worship, false teaching, you name it - all happening even in the Temple of God.  Jeremiah was faithfully bringing a Word from The Lord that condemned even the priests practices.  Judahs King, Officials, Priests, the people… didn’t want to hear it.  Enemies of Gods Word are always out to silence it because Its condemning to their way of life.

They don’t want to hear It, but they need to hear It, and Jeremiah is banned… so what’s the answer?  Write down The Word of God and send it with a messenger.  In this case a messenger named Baruch.

But wait… what if the messenger out of fear, or even preservation of his own life - compromises.  What if he sees an opportunity for self advancement by bringing an encouraging word?  If speaking The Truth got Jeremiah caged, and barred… well maybe just a few changes could get Baruch promoted.  What if between Gods revelation, and Baruch’s delivery of the message he alters it slightly… just a bit… you know, to make it easier to swallow.  Maybe he could make it just a little gentler, a little more “seeker” friendly perhaps.  Maybe Gods Word needs a little tweaking to be more uplifting, after all… repent, turn to The Lord or die is kinda harsh… don’t you think?

THAT is the reason behind this warning to Baruch, and frankly is applicable to anyone who chooses to be obedient and carry The Word of God to The World (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8).  So by all means share Gods Truth!  But, only Gods Truth!  We don’t get to water it down, soften it up or present it inaccurately so as to not offend.  At any and ALL costs, we are expected to present it accurately and completely… not even skipping over the “harsh” parts (2 Timothy 2:15).  Thats also what we should desire from those that present It to us.  Jesus spoke Truth… Harsh Truth… yet He did it with love in His eyes, in His tone, apparently in His whole manner - because THATS what was in His heart! Check out these two stories.

John 8:1-11 “Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

John 4:1-26 pay special attention to verse 17 and then ask yourself… how much love must have been in His voice for her to do what she did as a result (vs 28-29).  Even more incredible-  check out the response in verse 39.

THATS how we do it!
‭‭Love you all!  Dig in!
