Jeremiah 44

Good Morning “Responders to Gods Truth.”  Today we are in Jeremiah 44.

“If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭18‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I start here today because, that was not the case regarding Jeremiah.  All of Judah, including the “Remnant” in this chapter, witnessed the events Jeremiah prophesied come to pass.  They had their proof.  They had all the evidence they should have needed.  Yet, they despised The Word of The Lord from Jeremiah… they clung to their false gods and false forms of worship, and worshiped themselves to death!

I struggle to make sense of their senselessness honestly.  Reading of their destruction breaks my heart… does it break yours?  Then… as I begin to teeter on the edge of questioning God as He brought destruction on them, I am reminded of the near countless chances and warnings He gave them.

I am reminded that we are no different than Israel or Judah.  I feel like I’m at a funeral.  Mourning the deaths of Judah… mourning our own depravity.  He has given us all the evidence we need!  We live in a time when an impossible number of prophesies have been fulfilled.  He has revealed Himself to us both universally through creation and personally through The Holy Spirit (Romans 1:18-) so that we have NO excuse.  Yet… we too come up with excuses.

If we want to measure proof that He is Who He says He is, and He will do as He says He will… we have more evidence than Israel and Judah ever had!

“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How do you respond to His Truth?  How do you respond to rebuke, conviction?  How will you?

Love you all!  Dig in!
