Good Morning “Grace Recognizers.” Today we are in Isaiah 26.
“The world stinks.” “My life stinks.” “If God would actually bless me, then maybe I’d serve Him.” Have you ever found yourself in conversation with someone with an attitude like that? I have. It’s actually common in the “entitled” world we live in. Behind it seems to be the idea that “I am so awesome, God should simply bless my socks off. After all, I deserve it.”(Isaiah 64:6).
Here’s the Truth, simply put… our sin has earned us death - eternal separation from God (Romans 3:23, 6:23). Hell is our default destination. Anything, and EVERYTHING other than that, is Grace - unmerited favor. Salvation through Jesus and our relationship with Him, our families and friends, the meeting of our needs, our wants, even our very breath - all a gift of His hand. It’s ALL by His hand (1 Corinthians 4:7, Acts 17:25).
We’ve done nothing to “earn” any favor or blessing from The Lord. In fact we’ve earned the exact opposite. “Why would God do this to me?” The real question is, “Why not.” “Why would He bless us in any way whatsoever?” Answer… Love!
Do we truly recognize that? Does His Grace draw us closer to Him?
According to Isaiah, even in the Millennial Kingdom, when Jesus rules in the flesh… Grace has no effect on some.
“…When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. But when grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the Lord.”
Isaiah 26:9-10 NIV
We all learn righteousness from judgment - discipline. We love because He first loved us and showed us how (1 John 4:19). However; we learn righteousness (right living) by correction… the hard way (Proverbs 3:11, Hebrews 12:4-12)
Why must we learn things on our own, figure it out ourselves? Why can’t we recognize His incredible Grace and thus simply follow His ways?
He gave us His Word to do just that. We must dive into it daily yearning, longing for more of Him (Isaiah 26:8-9). Allow The Word of God to transform you in that way (Joshua 1:8, Romans 12:1-2).
Love you all! Dig in!
