Proverbs 22

Good Morning “Wisdom Modelers.”  Today we are in Proverbs 22.

Toward the end of today’s chapter we begin reading 30 summarized wise sayings.  Although not directly identified, it is generally assumed these, inspired by God, are also of Solomon.  Many if not all of these sayings are going to sound familiar as we have seen the same points made in previous Proverbs.  Pay attention to Gods inspired repetition - there’s a reason principles are repeated.  Know why?  Yup… they’re that IMPORTANT.

Let’s highlight just a couple:

“Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.” Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Listen and pay attention to those who are Biblically mature - the “wise ones” in our midst.  Remember, God has surrounded us with those that can help guide us, protect us and foster our spiritual growth and deepen our relationship with The Lord.  Be teachable.  Soak it all up!  Speak wisdom - it reinforces it in our minds and hearts.  Apply it and live it out!

“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.” Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This one applies in so many ways - even beyond someone who is hot tempered.  It has been said “You are what you eat.”  Well, you also become who you hang with, and what you spend your time doing.  Remember there is a reason Jesus sent them out in pairs (Mark 6:7).  Strength and accountability - that they might not get sucked in.

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭33‬-‭34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Purpose to spend time with those who are where you want to be spiritually - heading the same direction.

Love you all!  Dig in!
