Proverbs 18

Good Morning “Brothers and Sisters.”  Today we are in Proverbs 18.

We live in a pretty convincing world.   Whether in matters of faith, politics, or simply interactions with each other - the world is pretty good at arguing its case.  We’re easily drawn in, spiritually and emotionally.  In matters of faith, many are led astray by alternative teachings that sound good and feed our flesh.  When it comes to politics, we are often swayed by whatever media or internet source we see… or what those in our circle believe.  Even in our personal relationships we swallow each other’s stories hook, line and sinker often with little or no evidence.  Solomon gives us a little reminder today…

“The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.” Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God’s Word through Solomon reminds me of the Berean’s example.  “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts‬ ‭17‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It wasn’t that they didn’t believe Paul, it was simply that they understood The Word of God was their ultimate authority, not Paul.  So… they checked everything through it.  Simple.  I believe there is a lesson here that transfers to every area of life.  First, does it agree with Scripture.  That should be the paramount question in our minds always!  What about secondary claims and issues?  We live in the age of information.  It’s not hard to research and either confirm or deny anything.  Allegations and claims should all be cross examined within every area of life.  Example: Currently all kinds of information is flying around about President Trumps “Big Beautiful Bill.”  What’s true and what isn’t?  Don’t listen to the media, or anyone else… research the original.  The Bill itself is easily accessed for your reading pleasure.

What’s popular isn’t necessarily what’s accurate.  We desire acceptance by the masses.  I have more than 1000 Facebook and Insta Friends… some have millions.  So what (Galatians 1:10)?

In the end… who’s there for you?  If you’ve got even 1 real friend you can count on - you are blessed.  “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!
