Good Morning “Treasure Hunters.” Today we are in Proverbs 2.
Solomon makes it quite clear, if you seek after wisdom, through Gods Word, as one searches for treasure - God will give it!
Solomon knew, both from knowledge and experience. He prayed for wisdom and God gave it (1 Kings 3). If you know Solomon’s story… you might be scratching your head a bit at this Proverb. How can he claim the things he claims here, when he failed so miserably (1 Kings 11:1-8)? Therein lies the difference between knowing and doing… understanding and actually applying.
What if the biggest problem with the Church of Jesus Christ in our world today isn’t that Preachers aren’t preaching Truth. What if the biggest problem is that Parishioners aren’t applying it?
Notice the caveat in Solomon’s claim “and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,” Proverbs 2:4 NIV
The real question is the condition of our hearts. If we search for wisdom (just call it Gods Way), and desire it more than anything… “then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Proverbs 2:5 NIV
Bottom line, we want sin more than we want the righteousness things of God (James 1:14). Be honest, we want our cake and eat it too… but it doesn’t work like that. Just ask Solomon. When we get tired of living the one foot in the world life… and experiencing the consequences that come from it - He’s there, and He promises wisdom, understanding victory.
Don’t wait until it’s too late.
Love you all! Dig in!
